Cheap Beauty Finds!

Do You Have Champagne Taste, But Beer Money?

This is the place to come to explore ideas for cheap beauty finds! Here are some of my faves:

For Hair:

L’Oreal Extraordinary Clay

I am a big fan of pre-shampoo conditioning and treatment. It takes a little extra time, but really boosts the condition and moisture of your hair. I use this pre-shampoo conditioner for both me and my daughter.

Because I have fine hair and an oily scalp (not a great combination), lately, I’ve been using this new clay scalp mask by L’Oreal. It’s a great drug-store beauty find! If your scalp is not oily, I recommend using about once a month as a special treatment…and ladies, I think it’s a smart idea to step-up the way we think about hair and scalp care. We are often willing to take care of the skin on our face and bodies, but the scalp is skin too. Think of a scalp mask as a “facial” for your hair.

For Brighter Skin:

Although my skin is slightly oily, I do not use toner on a regular basis. I find that it tends to make my skin “overactive” with breakouts when I do. Plus, as I’m getting older, I’m appreciating more the anti-aging benefits of skin that tends to be on the oily side. I recently discovered a cheap, completely natural skin brightener…and it’s probably already in your medicine cabinet!

Hydrogen Peroxide.

Yep, that’s right! The good, ol’ fashion stuff you use to clean scrapes and boo-boo’s. Simply pour some on a cotton ball or pad and gently rub around your face, avoiding the eye area. Be sure to test your skin for any sensitivities and always wear a moisturizer with sunscreen during the day as a protectant.

After about three consecutive days of using Hydrogen Peroxide on my face, my skin is brighter and smoother! I do this routine periodically when I feel like my skin needs a little boost.
