Recipe: My New Green “Grinch” Drink

Green Goodness from the Sea

Let’s face it. It’s hard to always eat the fresh veggies our bodies need to run optimally and fuel the demands we place on ourselves everyday.

For that reason, I always enjoy a good wellness hack (a hack is a shortcut).

I was recently reading about the numerous health benefits of sea veggies like kelp, spirulina and chlorina. These water plants are true superfoods! They are packed with amino acids (proteins that are the building blocks for  our hair), and naturally nourish and help our bodies eliminate toxins. Since I’m not one to eat seaweed salad, I was very excited to stumble across Vitamineral Green. This product makes it super easy to reap the benefits of sea veggies and many other good-for-you nutrients like Dandelion root (great for your liver) and Tulsi (an adaptogen that helps your body combat stress). The product lasts a long time because you only need a teaspoon a day.

Since it’s very green, you may be wondering how it tastes.

The first time I drank it, I mixed one teaspoon in a 16-ounce bottle of water, and gave it a vigorous shake. I honestly couldn’t taste the green powder. Seriously. However, I felt like I needed a little more taste appeal in order for this to be a long-lasting improvement to my diet.

I decided to add a packet of Greens on the Go because I’ve always enjoyed the mild berry flavor. Greens on the Go is another green powder that assists with energy and alkalinity, but combined with Vitamineral Green, you really get to supercharge this wellness hack.  By the way, the reason alkalinity is so important to our health is because cancer cells can not survive in an alkaline environment. Processed foods, sugar and white flour increase the acidity levels in our bodies. Green leafy vegetables and some fruits boost our alkalinity.

Here’s the Recipe

  1. Get one 16 or 20-ounce bottle of water. I drink mine room temperature because it’s good for digestion.
  2. Take a small sip to give you room at the top for optimal mixing when you shake.
  3. Add one packet of Greens on the Go.
  4. Add one teaspoon of Vitamineral Green.
  5. Shake vigorously for a few seconds. The color will be a very dark hunter-green.

Much to my daughter’s chagrin, I enjoy my “Grinch” drink every morning before I eat or drink anything else – it also tastes great with a splash of fresh lemon juice.

Let me know what you think!
